I distinctly remember being taken aback when I had to pay nearly 3 Singapore dollars for a simple bottle of mineral water at a convenience store &#8211; a price that would be considered outrageous in my home country. Furthermore, dining out was a real budget-buster. On average, a decent meal for a family of four would range from 50 to 60 dollars, excluding service charges.
