I absolutely think technology has made quite a lot of changes to hobbies we have. In the past, prior to the advent of smartphones and wifi, people used to dig outdoor activities, such as playing sports. We also attended book clubs or card games to relax and socialize. Today, however, many of us heavily rely on tech devices for both communication and entertainment. We socialize through texts and social media, and choose Tiktok over a sports game with friends.
In this day and age, where many people are too consumed by their jobs, having a regular hobby would immensely help to alleviate work-related pressure. For example, activities like gardening, painting or doing yoga can provide a therapeutic escape. What’s more, setting time aside to pursue a hobby may help workaholics realize the significance of maintaining a healthy personal life, thereby promoting a better work-life balance.
I most certainly do. I believe it will greatly benefit both the employers and the employees if the latter have more time to relax and take up hobbies. For employees, pursuing hobbies can help them relieve stress and foster better mental health, which are crucial in maintaining a healthy mind for work. Moreover, a mentally well worker can better contribute to the business, which, in turn, profits the business owner.
While people from other cultures may also participate in parades, I firmly believe taking to the streets and forming a grand parade on Independence day or during any national celebration is uniquely Vietnamese. For example, during our Independence Day on September 2nd, you can see people of all ages flooding the streets, waving flags, and wearing traditional costumes. This stems from our pride as Vietnamese citizens, as well as our honor and commemoration of our ancestors. Parading on special days is our way to display and heighten our solidarity as Vietnamese descendants.
